LOW SELF-ESTEEM: IT IS TIME TO DECLUTTER

LOW SELF-ESTEEM: IT IS TIME TO DECLUTTER

Low self-esteem is a negative evaluation of oneself. During coaching session many people admit that they suffer from a low self-esteem, more or less controlled, disturbing more or less their daily life. Furthermore we all know people who seem incredibly self-confident. But “Seem” does not mean “Be” and presuming about others' feeling is always hazardous. Better is to focus on our own behaviour and try to move our self-esteem marker up. Why do not start with an efficient “decluttering”?
1.Get rid of negative people who drive you down.
Virginia Satir, the famous american family therapist, said: " feeling of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open and rules are flexible". Look for positive, empathetic and non-judgement environment.
2.Replace “I have to”, “I must” with “I want”, "I will”. You must probably put your expectations down. But achievable objectives - even low - are definitely the best way to succeed.
3.Organise your life
Recently, a friend of mine, Personal Organiser*, underlined how having a pleasant and tidied up environment encourages well-being.
4.Sort your feelings
That is important to distinguish between a low and a normal (or high) self-confident situation. Think about situations you feel uncomfortable with, where, with whom? And those you feel comfortable with.
5.Tidy up your past
It is too late to change past events. Accept that they are part of you and build your future with who you are, what you learnt and what you want for the future.
6.Get sober
Addictions block learning and drag down your mood. Identify them and replace them with self-care.
7.Bring to light your hidden narcissism
Compliment yourself, even about a “small win" and force yourself to think about something you did well every day.
8.At last, take time to read the declaration of Self-esteem published by Virginia Satir.
